Located in Highland Village, where an air of privilege and leisure pervades, Smith & Wollensky not only serves the exclusive surrounding neighborhoods, but also has "steaked" its claim as the quintessential steak house for Houston.
Although Smith & Wollensky has only been in Houston since January of 2004, the concept started in 1974, when they opened their doors for the first time in New York City. Since then, this world-renowned enterprise has grown to include locations in Washington D.C., Boston, Chicago, Columbus, Philadelphia, Miami and Las Vegas and there are plans to continue to grow and spread further west in 2009.
Whether you are planning an intimate business dinner, a rehearsal dinner, a corporate presentation or a birthday bash, Smith & Wollensky has the ability to plan and execute events with great food, perfect wine pairings and exceptional service. Smith & Wollensky offers five private meeting rooms that can accommodate between six and 130 guests for a seated event and 200+ for cocktail-style receptions. The following are the configurations that are offered at Smith and Wollensky:
Patio Dining Room – Comprised of three walls of floor to ceiling glass windows that over look the beautiful Highland Village, the Patio Dining Room cam accommodate 50-200 people for seated and cocktail functions.
Clock Room – Named for the enormous clocks that adorn the walls, this room has polished wood floors topped with a custom-made Persian rug. Events in the Clock Room range from 30 to 65 people in a seated arrangement to 100 in reception-style.
Wine Vault – The Wine Vault features a handsome, vaulted brick ceiling that accentuates the ambiance of the room. The Wine Vault seats 13-20 guests or up to 25 during reception-style events.
Kitchen Table Room – While not actually located in the kitchen, this glass-enclosed room provides diners a view of the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. Parties of 15-30 can comfortably enjoy this exciting option.
Wine Gallery – This intimate dining room features floor to ceiling wine racks where many of the wines on Smith & Wollensky’s “Great American Wine List” are stored. The Wine Gallery seats eight to 12 people for dinner.
Guests can savor Smith and Wollensky’s famous steaks, knowing that each cut undergoes a series of strict approvals. Each steak has been USDA certified, then dated and stored in an on-site, temperature-controlled aging box. When aged to perfection, the restaurant butcher carefully trims each cut and the chef cooks it to detailed specifications.
But, steaks are not all that Smith and Wollensky offers. With a menu of shellfish, fresh fish, live Maine lobsters, lamb chops and poultry, this highly-sought after restaurant has gained a reputation for providing innovative cuisine and impeccable service.
With the love of food, also comes the love of wine! Not only does Smith and Wollensky offer monthly wine dinners, but twice a year they also hold “National Wine Week.” Held in March and September, guests have the opportunity to sample 10 wines for $10 during lunch time, Tuesday through Friday. Magnificent Mondays feature five wines for $25 and the selection varies on each day of the week. Smith and Wollensky also features a large patio that wraps around the main bar, which is perfect for an after-dinner drink or glass of wine.
Smith and Wollensky combines a knowledgeable staff, a one-of-a-kind venue and a commitment to providing first-rate cuisine to form an event solution that is proven and guaranteed.
