Entertainment for the Corporate Set
The Redstone Golf Club in nearby Humble opened in 2003 with an 18-hole, par-72 Member Course designed by the renowned Jim Hardy and Peter Jacobson. On 900 acres beautifully crafted with cypress, live oak and pine trees, since 2003, Redstone has hosted the PGA TOUR’s Shell Houston Open—three great years on the market course and since then on the newer Tournament Course, which is open to the public. Course architect Rees Jones incorporated a beautiful yet challenging layout that tests the best golfers in the world while maintaining a positive experience for players of all skill levels. While constructing the Tournament Course, artifacts from the Atakapa Indians were found on the grounds, and this history was incorporated into the design of the club’s logo. Enjoyable to play, its beauty is enhanced by an abundance of native plants and wildlife that create a sense of serenity and solitude just minutes from Downtown Houston. Also at the club is the Redstone Golf Fitness Studio, a state-of-the-art training facility staffed with trainers with diverse experience and certified by the Titleist Performance Institute the Dave Williams Golf Academy; and the TaylorMade Performance Lab.

For Tour 18 Houston in Humble, the course designers painstakingly reproduced the most renowned and challenging holes in the history of golf, many of which have determined the outcome of the most elite golf tournaments. This collection of incredible replicas offers fantastic challenges and a memorable experience of walking in the footsteps of some of the great legends before them. Tour 18 Houston is open to the public and offers a full-service golf shop along with great practice facilities that include a driving range and a putting green. The Tour 18 Players Club program lets golfers learn, practice and improve their skills at their own pace. Members have unlimited use of the driving range and practice facility as well as access to free clinics given by golf professionals and play time at the Longwood, Southwyck and Bear Creek courses. The Players Club Platinum includes additional benefits, such as draft beers, unlimited range balls and select times available only to members.

The Wildcat Golf Club is like no other golf experience in Southeast Texas and the preferred golf club of Houston’s professional sports teams. Both designed by Roy Case, Wildcat’s two spectacular golf courses—Lakes and Highland—are located just south of Houston. Both courses feature elevations up to 100 feet and spectacular views of Houston’s downtown skyline, the Galleria and Reliant Stadium. Wildcat combines its links layouts with Texas Hill Country topography, Houston hospitality and the fun and competitive spirit of Houston’s sports teams. At the Lakes Course, golfers encounter acres of lakes on seven holes and dramatic elevation changes rivaled by no other course in Houston. The Highlands Course offers open, tumbling fairways, impressive elevations and all kinds of challenges, such as well-placed bunkers and deep ravines that demand golfers’ full attention.

Whether looking to entertain clients or employees for a fun day out on the links or to test your skills at some of the finest courses in Texas, Houston is ripe with golf courses of all kinds at all costs and great year-round weather makes it happen.

shopping at houston's finest
Houstonians love to shop, and shopping also has become a top attraction for visitors to the city. Houston boasts several premier shopping areas throughout the city that provide shoppers with excellent opportunities to get their fill of merchandise from the top name brands. Take a look at two of the city’s most popular shopping destinations: The Galleria Area/Uptown Business District and the new BLVD Place.

— The Galleria Area/Uptown Business District

Widely known as the city’s premier shopping district and “Houston’s Other Downtown,” the Uptown Business District is also called the Galleria Area for its proximity to the renowned Galleria Mall, one of the largest shopping malls in the country with nearly 400 stores and 3 million square feet of luxury shopping, plus an indoor ice rink. As singular as the Galleria Mall is, it is only one reason why the Galleria/Uptown Business District is a shopper’s paradise. Built in 1970, the Galleria Mall annually welcomes more than 25 million visitors and is considered one of the city’s most popular attractions. It has an impressive lineup of fashion boutiques as well as five anchor department stores, but the surrounding area is filled with the allure of top-quality luxury boutiques and stores as well.

This bustling commercial district is larger than the entire downtown areas of many big cities and is home to some of the Houston’s most impressive architecture. Located in the western part of the city just six miles from downtown along the outside of the 610 Loop, the Galleria/Uptown area can be seen from points all over city by its signature skyscraper, the dramatic 64-story Williams Tower and the presence of the Galleria Mall. The nearby Uptown Park Shopping Mall is relatively new. Fashioned like a European village, it has fountains, restaurants and shops like Longoria Collection, Runway Fashion Boutique and BBI Classic.
