Houston's Hidden Gems
The Museum District is home to many intriguing spaces, but not just those found in the famous museums. Directly east of the Children’s Museum, planners will find the quaint intimate facility that is Epiphany. Imagine hosting an event with all of the amenities of professional-level meeting venue combined with the comfort of a home environment. Epiphany is exactly that, a two-story home in one of Houston’s most pleasant neighborhoods that has been transformed into a versatile place of gathering.

On the opposite side of downtown, The Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park features beautiful facilities that encapsulate the Houston of yesteryear. The mission of The Heritage Society is to preserve the history of the community and region through the restoration of architectural structures and the exhibition of historical artifacts.

With the backdrop of the Houston skyline juxtaposed with the natural lushness of the Sam Houston Park, an event at The Heritage Society’s Connally Plaza is an experience unique to the Bayou City. This outdoor facility is a popular location for seated dinners, receptions, cocktail parties, weddings and other social gatherings. The Connally Plaza can accommodate up to 250 guests for a banquet-style function and up to 500 for a standing reception. A rose garden and oak tree add a sense of antebellum charm to this one-of-a-kind space.

The Long Row Building houses the Tea Room and Conference Room. The Tea Room is a 1,300 square-foot space that features hardwood floors, elegant columns and a restored bar. The room can accommodate 100 guests for theater-style seating, 60 for banquet-style seating and 150 for a reception. The Conference Room is a 265 square-foot space that seats 12 for a boardroom setting that is accented by Early American decorative finishes.

The Heritage Society Museum is also available for corporate event rentals, and features two main galleries, a video room and a replica of a nineteenth century general store. The Museum totals 3,000 square-feet of space and can hold receptions of up to 400 people, providing a great contemporary space for cocktail parties and networking gatherings.

The Museum of Printing History is an exciting educational facility located in the heart of the eclectic Montrose area. Guests of the museum are treated to an in-depth look at the progression of print technology through a series of well-constructed and informative exhibits.

The facility also offers several spaces available to meeting planners for intimate corporate functions. The entire museum can be rented for a total of 13,000 square-feet that can accommodate groups of 75 attendees for luncheons and dinners, 300 for receptions and 75 for seated lectures and presentations. The Print Gallery and New Gallery can be used in conjunction with each other or used separately. The Auditorium provides theater-style seating for 65 people and features audiovisual equipment, including a digital projector, VCR, DVD player, two slide projectors and a microphone.

The use of Reception Gallery and kitchen are included in the rental of one of the two primary galleries. The kitchen includes a refrigerator, freezer and microwave, and clients are allowed to use the outside catering service of their choice. Rentals also include the use of the facility’s chairs and tables, as well as set-up and clean-up by the museum’s staff.
