The Health Museum: Creating Events for Every Body
The exhibits enhance special events hosted at The Health Museum. The signature exhibit, the Amazing Body Pavilion, offers visitors a larger-than-life tour of the human body through giant-sized models and hands-on stations focusing on the body’s major organs. Other exhibits include You: The Exhibit, where visitors can age themselves 30 years and “scan” their internal organs while exploring their physical, mental and future selves with state-of-the-art interactive technology.

Conveniently located in the heart of Houston’s Museum District, as well as adjacent to the Texas Medical Center, The Health Museum also features limited-engagement exhibits and programs all about the health sciences.

The Museum has approximately 28,000 sq. ft. of event space and meeting space that can accommodate up to 500 people. Meeting spaces include three private rooms that can host up to 50 people each, a theater that seats 120 and an executive meeting room that seats up to 50. The McGovern Theater is fully equipped for digital presentations, movie screenings, speaking engagements, workshops and lectures. Event space features the George and Barbara Bush Grand Hall, a long central room with vaulted ceilings that can accommodate up to 350 people in a reception setting or seat approximately 120 in a seated banquet format.

“The Health Museum is a truly unique location for event planners. It is a very flexible facility, and can be configured in a variety of ways to meet your needs, small and large. The McGovern 4D Theater brings additional capability and excitement to an event, and the Museum’s beautiful space and engaging exhibit content make this a ‘can’t miss’ option for those who are looking for something out of the ordinary. In the past, we have hosted receptions, formal dinners, corporate holiday events, educational seminars, weddings, epicurean events, workshops, and employee wellness events that fit perfectly into the space available,” said Jon Iszard, President and CEO.

The Museum also has its own parking lot with space for 60 vehicles. The parking lot, as well as the building, is wheelchair accessible. In addition, the Museum has plenty of space for a caterer, including space for staging areas to remain hidden from guests. Guests are welcome to use the caterer and equipment rental companies of their choice. The corporate sales and special events manager can assist in planning and executing all the details.

New and updated features are available. Beginning Fall 2010, ground will be broken on new meeting/classroom space complete with audio visual capabilities. Based on the space requirements, these rooms can be expanded into an executive meeting space as well.

The Museum makes creating an exceptional event easy. Event planners have the option to reserve more than 13,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space as well as the other areas of the Museum. Guests can wander through the exhibits and explore the Museum as part of their event experience. Or, the exhibits can be used as additional event space to make the Museum part of the experience through creative placement of food, drink or information stations.

“Our museum presents spaces and event ideas unmatched by other museums in the city, perfect for the meeting planner looking for a new and different venue. And, meeting planners will be pleased with our competitive rates,” said Gina Guidry, Corporate Sales and Special Events Manager.

Hosting an event at The Health Museum means more than finding an inspiring location for your next event. Corporate events and meetings help fund educational programs for students and visitors from across the Houston area and beyond. These programs provide knowledge about how the human body works that encourages healthier lifestyles.
